As I download in the application field Plex Media Server and try to set up I have an error message: Safari is unable to open the page "192.168.1.52:32400/web because Safari can not connect to the server “192.168.1.52”
This came after I deleted all previous PMS install because it was very unstable.
Now I’am not even able to set up the application.
I bought NAS WD EX 4100 only to run PMS. I’m really disappointed.
I need help.
Thank you
So, your message is in the EX4 forum. but you say you have a EX4100. There is a separate forum for the EX Series, and you might get better response in there if this is the device you have.
And, if you have it, it is similar to what I have (DL2100) and PLEX installed and works fine there. I also installed the extra RAM in my unit. Did you? It is highly advisable if running Plex.
Hi Mike,
Thank you for your answer; By the way How do install extra RAM in your NAS?
I will do it.
Thanks
Apparently, there are only three NAS devices that can have their memory upgraded. These are the three, and your device is not one of them.
• My Cloud DL2100 (NAS device I have)
• My Cloud DL4100
• My Cloud PR4100
I still think your EX device could run PLEX, so suggest you contact WD Support for further assistance,
Good luck with this issue.
Yes I have seen. I will have to change my NAS. By the way how many Giga RAM did you install on your NAS to have make Plex work perfectly?
Thanks

I got the 4GB RAM from Amazon for under $25.
Mike,
Thank you for your answer. It’s really helpful.
Good luck with it. The new PR series looks cool except for the price, or get the DL series.
Mike,
Do you think the DL 4100 with 6G will be enough?
Or Should I go to the PR 4100.
Thanks again for your advice.
Yes, my DL2100 works fine with the 5G, (came with 1G and I added 4) I actually think the DL2100 could have run Plex with the 1G, but then adding on others of the WD apps could have strained memory demands.) I think your EX4100 comes with 1 G, too, not sure. That’s why I think yours should be running better and why you ought to contact WD Support and ask them for assist before getting a new NAS (work with the level 2 support folks; ask to be bumped up to that level as lever 1 is really for basic help issues.
I also will tell you I rarely use Plex since just finding media to play from the basic listings works fine for me and Plex does no recoding for me either since I only play music and mp4s with Plex… When I do use Plex it is either via the Roku or Fire TV stick. I sometimes use Kodi from the FireTV to view movies, and Kodi can play higher bit rate DVD iso files fine from my NAS as well.
Thank you for your answer it help me a lot.
