Ok, where are we at with this?
Currently we are at a stand-still. I’m going to order a new power supply for the HDD. Unfortunately, where I live there aren’t any electronics stores where I can just run out and get a replacement power supply. So since I’ve got to order one, it will most likely take about a month for it to arrive.
But my next steps are to replace the power supply, then reassemble the HDD and reconnect it to its orginal USB to SATA bridge board. If the HDD is getting enough power and spins up I’m hoping to be able to recover some of my data. I’m planning on running GetBackData to recover the “lost” data when I used TestDisk to create a partition on the HDD.
If after trying the new power supply, and the HDD does not spin up, my next step would be to replace the USB-SATA bridge board with an identical one.
I would like to think that with a new power supply and/or new USB to SATA bridge board the HDD will work (to the point at least where I can recover data).
Those are my action steps so far, BUT as of right now this whole process is on hold until the power supply arrives. Therefore, if it is necessary we can mark this thread as “Solved” b/c I won’t be able to continue until I have a power supply.
Thank you for your time and efforts. I was able to gather a lot of information via the links/resources you provided. I’m actually really enjoying learning about this stuff.
Well just come back and let us know what happens.
