Please help: MBL is visible as a storage device but am unable to map a share

Since a few days, after I switched to a new router (Sitecom wlr-300 to Sitecom wlr-5002) the MBL is only visible as a network storage device. I can access the device using the dashboard and using the mobile WD2GO app but not using my PC.

I tried several things like restarting the MBL, resetting the router, changing windows workgroups but without any result.

I’ve read several posts from people with simular problems and tried the solutions that worked for them without any succes.

  • Changing (private) homegroup settings
  • Removing device drivers in Device Manager

Strange enough I can map the mybooklive storage which will the map the Public share on the MBL but I have more shares like: Documents, Music, Movies, Series, Software which I am unable to map.

Another curious thing is that the Twonky Media Device keeps popup up and then it’s gone again in the network view.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this issue?

Uploading large files using WD2GO isn’t much fun

The problem is not with your MBL. The problem is with your network and with Windows. You have residual networking configurations left over from the prior router.  Do the following is the specified order.

  1. make sure MBL is set to DHCP (dynamic) in the Network section of Dashboard.

2) remove all mapped drives on your computer to the MBL

  1. power down MBL

  2. reboot router

  3. power up MBL

  4. reboot your computer.

Thanks for the reply, tried it but didn’t work.

The Twonky Media Device problem has been solved.

Strange thing is my GF’s laptop (over Wifi) has no problems opening all the shares.

Something to do with wired only?

If you see all teh shares on another PC, then your problem is your PC - not the MBL.   A Windows registry problem.  I’ve had it before a few times. Just reboot a few times.

AND/OR

you can restart the Windows (samba /SMB ) server on the MBL.

/etc/init.d/samba restart

When you said Registry I imediatly thought CCleaner!

So I run a RegClean and restarted my PC and it worked.

Thanks for the help!
