Plastic pull tabs for Drives

Where can I get two plastic pull tabs with two stickers for the EX2; as I’m unable to directly get it from Western Digital, unless one can ?

You should be able to get them from WD support as they still make the EX2 Ultra. I got a couple from them (maybe 3-4 years ago).

I contacted support spoke too four different people; in all cases they informed me they cannot get me these simple plastic drive tabs, it’s quite ridiculous. Unless someone at Western Digital wants to insert themselves in this thread to help ?

Any other suggestions, whom did you speak with to get them; I assume just tech support, in that case they were completely useless.

Yes, it was a while back. Don’t recall who I spoke to but I’m pretty sure it was tech support. You can tie a piece of string around the back screw and pull out the drive or use a pair of needle nose pliers to pull on the back screw and get the drive out.

I’m so annoyed. I just got off the phone with WD support and they said they can’t offer replacement for these parts. Can’t even buy them. They said all they could do is replace the entire unit under warranty, but I’m no longer under warranty. They suggested I call around local repair shops. But if they don’t sell the parts at all, then it’s highly unlikely a repair shop is going to have them. Totally useless.

I understand your frustration Western Digital should have spare parts for when these issues arise. Instead they choose to cause one frustration. I don’t own the drive no longer, so therefore I don’t need the drive tabs anymore but it would be appreciated if Western Digital would read this thread and help those, especially you; breadfan85 for replacement parts.

Thanks, _SuperDave, I appreciate the kind message. Now this is funny, I actually found the missing hardware. I thought I’d accidentally thrown them out along with the box my computer case came in, but it was under my desk the whole time. I feel like an idgit lol. Anyway, take care.

That’s really odd, given that they still make the EX2 Ultra (which uses the same pulls). All I can say is that you don’t really need them, it just make it a little easier to get the drives out of the NAS.
