After working fine for months my computer couldn’t find my Passport. Following a post on this site suggesting going to computer management I was able to get the computer to find the drive. Of possible interest to users is that the Passport quit working when I plugged in my Android phone to charge, and Windows logged in on as an additional drive. In the future is will unmount the Passport before connecting my phone.

See if your hard drive is recognized on the Disk Management on Windows. Check the link below for some troubleshooting steps. If the external hard drive is not being recognized, you should be able to use a data recovery program to recover your data, using Google you can find several options.
