Passport 3tb with External USB HUB

Hello:

I am trying to use a PASSPORT 3tb drive with the EX4 unit. I was trying to go through a USB hub into a USB slot in the back…and the drive is not being detected. I bypassed the hub and plugged directly into the EX4 unit and got it to work without issue…

However if I use the HUB with USB Thumb drives, they are detected and have no issue…

What do you think I am doing wrong? Do I need USB Content Availability turned on…I do not think I do, but I thought I would ask…

Does Passport 3TB power on (hard drive spin) when you connect it to the hub? Your hub might not provide enough volt to the drive. Some hubs might need external power adapter.

It does, but maybe like you said there is not enough power for it…it is an UNPOWERED hub, so I might have to get one and see where that gets me…
