Old passport 1TB desn't work correctly anymore

I have an old passport 1TB drive WDBBEP0010BBL-01 which I didn’t use for some years but has my data backups, and now I just can’t access it because it’s extremely slow, I think this should be some very common problems old usb passport facing right now, but I can’t find a solution to this, could anybody help?

Did you try running the drive tests with the WD Utilities program?

Just tested, Drive Status Check test says: SMART status failed. Quick Drive Test says: Quick Drive Test failed. But there’s no solution provided.

Try downloading Crystal Disk Info and see what the SMART error is. Regardless of the severity of the error, the drive is likely failing and I would advise that you try to copy any important data off the drive as quickly as possible.

Thanks for the suggestions. I am downloading the data out of that disk right now. It’s painfully slow, but seems to me, when handling large files, it’s still fine, so I’m hopeful I can copy all my data off.
