Hello!
So, I bought a WD passport ultra a few years ago, I had so many issues with it I gave up, its sat in a draw for years and I am unable to back up. I’m about to buy another but fear the same fate, can someone make any sense of what happened, is it faulty or is it likely to happen again? Or even recommend a different product?
I will explain what happened with my passport, forgive me I am really not technical.
- I plugged it into my mac and moved all files on to it
- A day later I plugged it in and mac didn’t recognise
- I tried another mac, nothing
- I plugged it into a PC, it worked! with the help of WD passport on the phone… I took files off onto the PC, re formatted, files back on, moved to mac it worked
- for a day only, then nothing
- So mac no longer recognises it, PC does. I no longer have a PC
I don’t trust it, I cried and let it sit in the draw for 2-3 years whilst I gave up
Problem is, I really do need a back up for all my family pictures and files. So, I am looking at your ‘My passport’ 1TB 13.8 £42.99 to try this again with a new device. I want to know if my previous device was faulty because I’m scared of this happening again. Im sure my passport is out of warranty and I don’t mind just buying another one if you can reassure me this won’t happen again. My files are precious to me and losing them would be heartbreaking. I have resigned to the fact I can only access my files from this old passport on a PC (which we no longer have any) fine. But I really need a storage solution that I can rely on. Can you help / advice/ reassure this won’t happen again?
