My Passport for Mac not recognisable

Hi, I hope someone can help. I’ve had no issue until today - all my photos (10 years) and itunes libraries are on my passport for mac.

Today my mac screen went white and I was told it could have been due to mackeeper - which i’ve now uninstalled.

however before it went white, i tried to open itunes and my passport was not recognisable.

I don’t know how to access this as it is my computer back up and the only place for many files…

Please help! Desperate!

Many thanks. Priya

Hello,

I recommend you try some basic troubleshooting:

1- Disconnect the drive from the computer and restart the computer.

2- If the computer is a desktop, connect it on the back USB port (directly to the computer, not through a hub).

3- Go to "Disk Utility” to verify if the drive shows up there.

If the drive shows up in disk utilityt but it is not seen on Computer, then it means the partition is corrupted and you will have to format it in order to use it again. Please note that formatting the drive will delete all data stored on it.

If you need to recover your data you may try using a data recovery software before formatting.

HI,

I’ve done all the above except formatting the disc as it has 10 years of
music and photos on it - not stored anywhere else!!!

This is only a few years old… really miserable that it the disc is
corrupted… :frowning:

Will try data recovery.

Thanks. Priya
