Can someone help with this problem? I have a My Book Live Duo. I can see it from my laptop (MacBook Pro, OS X 10.10). Everything is working well. But TimeMachine isn’t working anymore. I know that recent firmware updates have fixed this problem. But I can’t update the firmware via the dashboard. If I click “check for update” I get “Error 31155 - No Internet Access” warning. There is the “Update from file” button — but WD support online says it’s not supported anymore. How to fix this problem?
Your MBLD is unable to access teh internet. Something in your connection with the router or the router itself prohibiting a connection.
-
make sure the MBLD is set to DHCP networking, not Static
-
reboot your router
-
reboot the MBLD
-
remove any firewalls that your router has in place.
Or you can download the firmware file from teh wd site, then install it manually from file on teh MBLD.
Thanks. I’ve already done steps 1-4 with no success.
Regards updating the firmware from the wd site. I’ve downloaded it. Do I load the zip file in zipped format?

hmm… did you search teh WD site for how to do this?
I did research that. And here’s what it says:
“Critical: Manual updating is not currently available, if you need assistance please Contact Us.”
It was after reading that I posted here on board (expecting that official support would be slower). So now you might be able to understand my predicament.
I’ve done the manual update a few times, but i can’t remember what file type it accepts. It definatey gives a error message if it isn’t the right file type. It will not let you upload the incorrect file type. Try uploading the zip, if that doesn’t work then decompress it and upload what is inside it (which is a deb file i think)
thanks. I might try the zip. i’ll backup then give it a shot, I’ll be back here if it works or doens’t work!
Either way, zip or deb or whatever file it wants, you will not lose your data. Worst case is that the firmware mis-installs and then you have to install it using a USB-Sata cable. But even then you will not lose your data.
Though i can’t imagine how a firmware update is going to solve your internet access problem. It is most likely the case the MBLD is not being assigned a DNS from the router. You can change from DHCP to Static and enter the DNS and subnet mask manually.
You might also find that your router is blocking the MBLD for some reason. Try to reset your router to factory configs. Also if you ever get it all working, you should save config files from the router and the MBLD so that you can restore them if this ever happens again.

Where did you find the links on the WD site? I’ve looked and all I can find is source code. Can you provide a link to the latest firmware?
Cheers.
