Had trouble getting the manual firmware upgrade to work yesterday. It kept complaining about problems with the file. Today the link for downloading the file does not work. Called support. Case number 093010-7864364. I was told they do not have the firmware available for manual download only over the internet for automatic update. The link is still on line as are the instructions. It was there yesterday. The device supports it. The only option I was given was to send the device back for a refund. They would not provide me with a firmware file. Why??? The device was sold to me right from the WD online store. It came with the original outdated firmware on the device. It does not work out of the box. They refused to give me an update. I WILL NEVER BUY WD EVER AGAIN. JUNK.
I’ve had WD NAS drives for some time, and there has never been a link for a manual update since the Netcenter (I think the manual update is something they use internally). Where did you find a link to it?
