Newbie setup problem: trying to use My Cloud Home as a TimeCapsule Replacement

I’m a novice network person and I’m struggling to get my recently purchased My Cloud 6TB working with my domestic mac setup. In the past I’ve simply connected my multiple macs to the Time Capsule on my network but have now decommissioned the Time Machine as the disk was showing errors. My Cloud Home is now connected to my cable router. It appears across the network as a time machine disk option (and the OS version is visible on iphone etc) BUT when I try to connect my laptop mac I get: backup disk image could not be accessed (error 45) in time machine. I resolved the first issue (login as guest) but have hit a wall with this one. Has anyone encountered/resolved this issue?

I note some threads stating linking via the IP address but I’m not clear how to do this or what IP address the MY Cloud disk uses…

Hoping someone has solved this one. Many thanks
