New Release - Firmware Version 3.08.14 for WD TV Live Hub (10/29/12)

I tryed to install the last firmware but I couldn’t because as the WDTV LIVE HUB said “the firmware is incomplete and you can’t upgrade your device”. anyone had the same issue? is there something I can do?

Download the update again make sure you delete the file you already have first.

Unzip it ON YOUR HARD DRIVE (should be 4 files in the .zip file) then copy the 4 files to the root of a FAT32 formatted USB stick. Make sure the Hub is set to detect new firmware and shove the stick in the port. If you’re already at the version you’re trying to update the Hub to, it won’t take it. i.e. you want to go to 3.08.14 and your Hub is reporting you are at 3.08.14

I usually do a full factory reset before and after an update. Some will say this is overkill some will agree there are less problems. BUT bugs are bugs and full resets won’t fix them.

Firware upgrade when like a charm! THnk you.

The new app got hauppage digital tuner I have issues with, but I’m sure they will get ironed out!

Bought a live tv hub 1tb yesterday. Downloaded the new firmware, works like a charm! Only thing that’s irritating me is that the thumbnails from the “folder.jpg” are looking really bad. Poor quality.

I just rebooted the system, downloaded the new firmware again, installed is, and it worked

I purchased a Hauppauge WinTV HVR 950Q tuner to try out the new functionality in this firmware. The WD TV “app” called Hauppauge is minimal to say the least. Documentation is non-existent as far as I’ve been able to find, after exhaustive searches. It does allow you to tune and record ATSC programs to the WD TV. But, a huge shortcoming in my view is that it does NOT have a scheduler for the record function. That is, you have to manually initiate recording. If scheduled recordings were possible, it would make for an acceptable DVR. I realy hope they add that capability, if it’s possible.

Without scheduled recording, however, support for tuners in this new firmware does not have much appeal. Additionally, channel-changing is horrendously slow, but that isn’t WD’s fault. This is a problem experienced with the WinTV HVR 950Q wen connected to a PC as well.

Here’s a follow-up:

wth. i want to roll back to 2.7 so i put the 4 files on an USB. but the new FW message on the hub doesn’t show on the main screen. also trying the setup menu but i keeps saying i got the newest FW already (but i don’t want that version :stuck_out_tongue: )

even if i unplug the internet cable :S than i get the message there is no connection (i wonder why -_- )

i want to roll back :frowning:

@Paulus-NL Try opening the .ver file you downloaded in notepad. It probably says 3.07.17. Change that to 4.07.17 and try again. It should work.

do i need to change it to 4.07.17 or to 2.07.17?

4.07.17. This makes the Hub temporarily think you are installing a newer firmware when you are really rolling back.

WD’s rollback technique has always involved adding 1 to the first digit in the .ver file. However since you are rolling back from version 3.08 to 2.07 their .ver file would say 3.07, therefor it does not believe it needs to change.

Since the HUB’s firmware has “upgraded” (I use the term loosely) beyond that point any firmware with a number below 2.08.14 would have to change the first number to a 4 in the .ver file rather than a 3.

Hope this helps.

ah k, thx. the number 4 was the lucky number

Will this firmware enable .m2ts recordings to play properly?

My home videos recorded on my Sony HD Hanycam do not play properly on the WD TV Live Hub.

Extremely frustrating as this is the main reason why I purchased the device.

Is there an earlier firmware upgrade that resolves this issue (playing .m2ts files)?

Thank you…

Hi, new firmware WD TV Live Hub has slowed, please edit it.

Please add the pdf format to the new firmware

Thanks

After this upgrade, videos in .mpg format with multiple language audio is only working with the default language, no matter if i change to audio1, audio2, etc is always in the same default language, please fix it.

Thanx!

looks like the bug did start on Firmware 3.07.14…rolling back to 3.06.14 fixed this problem. Please fix it in the next release.

Thanx!

The clowns from WD can never seem to get it right. Whenever they come up with something, at the same time they always managed to  something else up. Always!

If I did my job as poorly as the WD product manager handles these firmware releases, I would have been fired a long time ago.

How about a “Maintenance Release” with NO new features to fix some of these issues?  I had 3.08.14 loaded for 10 minutes before I had to revert to 2.07.17.

finally we have netflix in finland

so my question is

how i can add it to wd new fm
 manually

i mean is there any files i can edit or smthn like that

or mayby somone WD live familly will read this and fix it for this new FM

thnks
