New Passport Ultra device won't recognize its drive - Help

I just purchased a new “My Passport Ultra” to replace a “My Passport” which no longer works. I deleted the previous WD Passport program and have downloaded the new Passport program. I plugged in the new My Passport Ultra device, my computer recognized the drive, but the app doesn’t. The app, when opened, states that there is no USB device plugged in. I have downloaded the WD Dashboard and it recognized the drive and device. I have turned off my computer, restarted it and then plugged the device into USB-C port on my desktop. Still no luck. Any suggestions?
