ED My Passport Ultra not recognized

I have a WD 2 TB Passport Ultra USB drive that is not being properly recognized by my Win 10 computer. I used it for several months with Win 7and stored a lot of files on it. I would like to recover.
When it is plugged it into my computer it shows up in File Explorer as drive D: when I click on D: I get the wavy circle icon indicating it is working on it but nothing ever happens. it does not show any folders or files.

Disk Management shows my internal HD Disk 0 with the C: partition and Disk 1 with the D: Partition it is shown to be 1800 GB RAW file system; Healthy; Primary Partition Active

I suspect all my files are gone and the only thing I can do is reformat it as NTFS and reuse the disk. But before proceeding I would appreciate if anyone could suggest some way to see if any files are still there and how to recover them.

Hello,

It is possible the partition is corrupted. You may try to recover the files using a data recovery software. You may also try replacing the USB cord just to make sure this is not the issue.
