Its long overdue, but I am finally going to setup my house with a backup / storage system. I intend on purchasing the My Book World edition II. I also want to get rid of my DVR’s and stream from the internet.
I have 3 laptops all running Vista and 1 workstaion that running Vista. I have 5 tvs in the house but none of them have a network connection built into them. I hardwired the house so there is a cat 5e cable at all of the tv’s. Im just not sure which route to go. The Wd TV live looks great, but Im not sure how many and which one I need.
Advice please. I dont mind running more cables and I do have a wireless routher. Tying all the computers and tvs together is a 16 port ethernet switch.
Hello, Someone made a valid point and I will try to be a little more clear on what Im looking for.
I need help designing my house with the Western Digital products. Do I need WD Plus for each of my TV’s or will the one Live TV hub be enough for the whole house? I have 5 TVs that all have a cat 5 cable that all originate from a 16 port ethernet switch.
Id love to see some interactive app that I could build my home network with these products and then give me a parts list.
You’re going to need one unit per TV, unless your TV has DLNA DMR capability.
Unless you need NETFLIX at each TV, then the WDTV Live is sufficient, otherwise the Live+.
If you actually anticipate that multiple units will be operating SIMULTANEOUSLY, and the bit rates of the files are high, then I would suggest you invest in a good NAS instead of the HUB.
The Hub’s SAMBA performance is not sufficient for serving multiple HD streams.
