loaded ver 4.0251 of Discovery several times and it never allows access to the external drive. I had a password on the system and it never said it was locked and open it with a password as it had in the past, Ive gone into Security and removed the password and this hasn’t heaped either.
Every time I click on the WD Discovery Icon a screen appears asking me to allow the application installation to make changes to the system. Ive also unplugged the external drive and reattached to no effect
This sounds like a message from Windows 10. You need to tell it Yes, Allow Changes.
I do tell it but it asks everytime I open Discovery and it doesn’t allow me to open the drive with my password.
Wow. In that case I don’t know what to do other than maybe try the drive on a different system and see if you can access it there. If you don’t have another PC to use then maybe try Easy2Boot on a USB flash drive and some linux distro (I like PCLinuxOS for this) and see if it can access the drive. If so then the problem is in Windows, maybe it’s stored the password somewhere and didn’t actually remove it.
