I have been using a My Passport drive for several years. It has never asked me for a password until today, I always selected the drive in Windows Explorer and simply selected folders and files transparently. There is a passport hint suggestion. I tried over 32 variations on my hint with no success. I chatted with WD three times today. They told me I cannot access the files unless I have the correct password or I would have to reformat the drive and lose my files. They also suggested a recovery service or program. Why, all of a sudden, is the drive asking for a password? Any suggestions?
