Upgraded to MyCloud OS5 a year ago. This thing has been bothering me for a long time.
Before the upgrade, every time I add a file on my computer to my MyCloud, it will pretty much show up instantly on the mobile app (MyCloud OS3).
However, after the upgrade, files are not showing up at all. Every time, I need to reboot my MyCloud to have it index again for the file to show up and index tasks forever. If I don’t reboot, the new added files will never show up.
Anyone have a similar issue? Is there any way around this?
Your issue is likely related to the “indexing” service in OS5. The following WD support articles may have further information relevant to the indexing issues. You may have to force a rescan or reindex for new files.
It sounds like whatever process controls the indexing is getting “stuck”; and your reboots are getting it “unstuck”.
Wonder if there is a more elegant way to do this?
Note that “updating” an index should be quick. A complete rebuild is the step that could take weeks to complete. The complete rebuild is only triggered (I think) by toggling “Cloud services” on and off.
