Mycloud Install

I have tried to follow the user install guide instructions with no luck. Basically, I have a 3TB My Cloud Unit. I downloaded the desktop software on my PC with my old internet connection a WIFI set up with Time Capsule from Apple. After downloaded the Software I disconnected the Time Capsule and connected My Cloud. My cloud runs its setup process and when light in front of unit is blue I activate Mycloud desktop software but it does not recognize the device I tried several times the search for connected devices no luck. It asks me to find device by activating a code option do not have a code, option by siging in the device never done before so I do not have email or password.

If somebody can help me understand where I am messing up excellent…regrds…

I think that after reading more about My Cloud last night my mistake may be that I have always believed that My Cloud is a storage device and a wireless router. As far as what I read, My Cloud is a device that works via wifi but it is not a wireless router or wifi emiter like time capsule from Apple? am I correct?

You are correct! There is no wifi capability native to MyCloued

A MyCloud can be accessed in 3 ways:

1 - direct connection to your pc via ethernet

2 - direct connection to a wired router

3 - direct connection to a wired and wifi router

The WD My Cloud IS NOT a wireless device or a wireless router. It is a Network Attached Storage (NAS) device. It connects TO a wireless router/gateway, or switch, or hub, or even a computer by an Ethernet cable that gets plugged into a RJ-45 Networking port on both the WD My Cloud and the other network device.
