Hi everybody,
my WD MY Cloud EX2 Ultra 4TB from 02/2017 has been running very comfortable, connected to our Router in a home network environment. The NAS Server is configured as RAID1 - simple mirroring.
We are using the NAS to save pictures and documents etc, but we are accessing the NAS probably 3-4 times a week.
So I expect the NAS to be idle almost the whole week.
Starting in early 2018, the drive is constantly emitting noise and both LED are green - harddisk sounds like they are operation almost 24/7.
Although these drives are build to run, I still have the feeling, that the behaviour has been completely different the last year and that some standby time might as well extend the lifetime.
You should run System Diagnostic Test from the dashboard on My Cloud devices in order to check for the issues in device. If there is any issue or error, recommends to take a data backup. You may refer below KBA for System Diagnostic test.
Hi,
thanks a lot for your answer.
I do not have ‘System test’ as shown via the tutorial you have linked…in ther GERMAN VERSION.
I switched to English - just to show you the english language Screenshot - and … there it is.
[Remark: I just realized, that in English Frontend as well, the ‘System test’ button shows up with a time delay of i.e. 5sec]
Not really good…hopefully WD is realizing this post.
I will run the system test now as recommended.
SYSTEM state: Healthy
CPU: 99%
Update: required (actual: 2.30.181 / January 2018)
I cannot make any update, because SYSTEM says it’s busy.
