MyCloud Doesn't Backup! PLS HELP!

Hi everyone,

I have a WD MyCloud with the latest firmware installed, my problem is that the MyCloud isn’t backing up to anything. There are a many machines within the premise all in different location under the same network, therefore a USB wouldn’t be Ideal for me. I’ve went through safepoint and setup the backups, daily and weekly and for some reason they don’t backup. The last backup was successful and that was only a week ago. What I’m thinking, could this be related to the recent firmware update or is there a bug in the firmware.

Have you tried a reset and/or power cycle?

Are you trying to backup the MyCloud itself (to a USB disk connected to it, or to some other network disk), or are you trying to backup computers TO the MyCloud? The fact that you talk about a number of machines suggests you are wanting to back them up to the MyCloud.

Safepoint (the utility running on the MyCloud) is for making a backup of the MyCloud. NOT for making backups of a number of computers TO the MyCloud.

If you want to backup computers TO the MyCloud, you will need to run a backup utility on each of those computers. WD supply their SmartWare backup software, or their Sync synchronisation software, or you can use third party backup or sync software. If you don’t understand the difference between backup and synchronisation, get googling.

If you are having a problem getting Safepoint to backup to a USB disk connected to the MyCloud, or to another network file server, then, yes, there are many reports of problems running Safepoint; use the forum search facility (magnifying glass in top right of the forum page) to find them.
