I tried technical support but they were not helpful, unfortunately, so am hoping for some help here!
Many gigs of music were in folders, which “disappeared” for no apparent reason, but I believe this happened just around the time of software updating.
I tried to access the smartware folder directly, but there does not seem to be any data there.
Many thanks!! It’s been a long day trying to recover my music
Hi, if you can access the my book normally do you notice any difference in the amount of free space that you have? If you still have the same amount of free space that you had before the files disappeared, the files could be hidden, check the link below for the steps to view hidden files. If that doesn’t work then the files could be corrupted, try using a data recovery program to scan the my book.

Hello,
Thank you very much.
I have power cycled all of my equipment in the order you suggested.
Have re-installed the sonos controller.
The WD drives show up on my computer and in network. They now have all the data viewable (accomplished this by changing my network somehow)
Now it appears that I am adding access (share) in Sonos controller software, but the folders do not update, that is they are the original folders I added to the WD, and there is no data in the folders.
I am wondering if this is an issue of permissions; I’m not that techy
or to do with how the access to the WD mybooklive duo is set up.
Is there a way to start from scratch without losing my data?
One major change before this occurred was my updating the firmware for the WD mbld.
Many thanks,
ktown
Hello again,
The folders, files and data do show up in WD 2go, so as per another post, I am going to try to “rebuild the cache via the web ui”
"
then it may be necessary to rebuild the cache via the Web UI:
Go to SETTINGS / REMOTE ACCESS / ADVANCED
and click the Rebuild button next to “WD 2go server”
Yeah, I know, it’s not WD 2go, but for whatever reason, that’s how WD labeled it…"
at work so will try when I get home.
