MyBookLive Drive will NOT Upgrade to Latest Firmware

I am trying to upgrade my MyBookLive Drive to the latest Firmware and it wants me to upgrade to 02.11.09-053 First. It is continually failing in the upgrade step with a “Upgrade Copy Failed” message. This is using the built in upgrade facility. I wanted to try by upgrading from a file but I do not know where the Firmware is stored for the legacy products.

I have downloaded and run some of the utilities (eg - UniversalFirmwareUpdater for Windows) but the drive is a NAS attached via ethernet and the utilities only seem to be for drives actually attached to the PC (via USB). Does anyone know where the firmware is located that I can download. I have thought of doing a factory reset but do not want to render the drive useless or lose data.

The only update done since purchase (New) has been an upgrade relative to MIO. The drive seems to work fine although the led is only ever RED or not showing at all.

I was only able to find the download link for the latest firmware available.

Therefore, I suggest you contact WD Support for the 02.11.03-053 download link.

This is an Update to my original post. I did a bit of snooping on the net and found the following site with a plethora of MyBookLive legacy firmware including 02.11.09-053. When I downloaded and then selected the firmware from a file to do the upgrade, it ran flawlessly. The site I found is here:

I’m glad you were able to find a workaround for your situation. However, please keep in mind that this is not an official WD website and could potentially cause more harm than good.
