my wd external 3tb drive failed. The computer wont recognize it. I put it in a new external case and still no luck
how much should i expect to pay to see if data can be recovered? Where should i go. or should i just chalk it up to poor quality and foolish me for not putting important files on a blue ray .
If it’s a drive with Smartware it will be hardware encrypted and using a third party enclosure or connecting as an internal won’t work. Opening the drive voided the warranty. Did the drive show in disk management before you removed it from the WD enclosure? It might be corrupt. If it showed in disk management it might be repairable if it’s corrupt or maybe you can used data recovery software.
