My WD easystore HD not usable on my Mac - El Capitan or Sierra

After both my MacBook Pro (Mid 2012) running El Capitan 10.11.6) and my MacBook Air running Sierra 10.12.5 failed to recognize my WD easystore HD right out of the box, I have been trying to repair it in Recovery. But when I run First Aid, it tells me to run it in Recovery - when I’m in Recovery!!! Can it get any more idiotic?

The problem is apparently “problems with the partition map which might prevent booting.” Ok, so?

How do I fix this drive - that can’t be recognized, right out of the box, and that my Mac - in Recovery - tells me to repair in Recovery??!!

There could be some possible solutions for this:

  1. Do you have a Mac nearby that is running a lower version of macOS say Yosemite or Mavericks? Try repairing it through an older version of the Disk Utility.

  2. Re-initialize the drive to HFS or HFS+ partition in recovery or Desktop mode Disk Utility

  3. You may try to initialize it with Terminal also.
