My Passport for Mac doesn't mount on M1 MacBook Air

I bought two new My Passport Ultras for Mac and neither will mount on my new M1 MacBook Air running Big Sur. They don’t show up on my Desktop, in Finder or in Disk Utility. I contacted Apple Support and they couldn’t get them to mount either. Contacted WD support and only receive an Incident Confirmation reply. I’ve used a few WD external drives for Mac previously and have been happy with them. But if I don’t find a solution very soon, these are going back. TIA.
