My Passport External USB HDD not accessible

Hi folks,

I am having a problem accessing MyPassport external USB hard drive.

The unit functions normally on a machine running Windows 10.

The problem is on this system:
Operating system: Windows XP Pro /SP3
Drive letter is displayed in My Computer
Volume is listed as Healthy in Disk Management console
Error from Windows Explorer: not accessible, Parameter Invalid
Error when attempting to access in DOS: h:\ not available (Cycle Redundancy Check)

I would be grateful for any and all help with this problem.

Please be informed that WD My Passport External Hard Drive is compatible with Windows 10 or Windows 8.1. In order to use this drive on a MAC, it requires reformatting.

Thanks for your help. Running SFC didn’t solve the problem so I re-formatted the drive. Now it is accessible. My issue is resolved.
