My Passport CINEMA - can it be formatted for PC use?

Does anyone know if the My Passport CINEMA 1tb drive can be formatted and wiped clean of all movies? I don’t want to use it with my television to watch movies.

I would like to use it instead on my computer as additional storage backup drive for data files & text documents & youtube like videos. Is that possible?
