Can I safely wipe this drive using DBAN or CCleaner and then format to NTFS? I guess I would lose the WD files included, including WD Apps Setup.exe (I have however made a copy of them on another HDD so they could be added after wiping/formatting.)
You should be able to wipe the drive.
