My myCloud firmware update destroyed my disk access!
I downloaded the mobile application. A note showed up, “you must update the firmware”. I followed it and lost access from that moment on.
I have found on forums that many have had this happen for years! and WD does not warn.
Is there any way to recover the information?
Thanks
@AFEM What WD device do you own and what version of firmware did you try and update to?
I don’t really know. It’s an old WB My Cloud. Today I tried to access it from the Android solution.
When I had the access a note appeared and indicated that it will update the firmware.
I did. I lost all communication. I waited a few hours, but I could never get it back.
At this point it doesn’t recognize it.
I researched and found that this problem happens frequently, but apparently there is no solution.
Thanks.
Hello again.
Finally I find the firmware:
Firmware: v04.05.00-327 WDmyCloud
Did you do a manual download and update of the new version?
No. The mobile solution just told me to do it and I clicked.
I haven’t had access since yesterday. Today I have access to see the files on my cell phone.
It’s awfully slow.
On the PC via the website it’s even slower. The dashboard shows no information and I couldn’t access the files.
But at least I know the information is there.
Thanks.
What does “the dashboard shows no information” mean? Can you post a screen shot of what your My Cloud Dashboard (ex: http://wdmycloud/ or http://wdmycloud.local/) is showing?
One can manually update the firmware using the My Cloud Dashboard.
