My Cloud: WD Sync only works remotely?

Hi all,

I recently started up my new WD My Cloud 3 TB Single Bay.

I want to use it for synchronizing files between multiple PCs. Therefor I tried out WD Sync software. The setup was not a problem and my test folders started sychronizing at once.

Now, I recognized that, despite PC and My Cloud are in the same LAN, WD Sync syncs my files remotely over the internet.

In another thread, I read that it actually should sync locally, when PC and My Cloud are in the same LAN, what sure would make far more sence.

Is that true, and if so, can anyone advise on this issue?

The WD Sync software will sync locally across the local network in addition to syncing remotely.
