My Cloud Home Upgrade Questions

Hello. I have a My Cloud Home 4TB purchased in 2019 with the P/N WDBVXC*. I believe I understand that this device cannot upgrade to OS5 and will not be functional as of April, 2022. Does that mean that the current My Cloud Home that is offered on the WD website, is also not compatible with OS5? I received a coupon for 20% off an OS5-compatible device and the My Cloud Home 8TB appears to be one of the options. I’ve tried emailing with customer service, but needless to say, I am very confused.

So, am I correct that my current My Home Cloud will no longer be functional as of April, 2022? If so, can I upgrade to the My Home Cloud 8TB?

If none of the My Home Cloud devices will be functional after April (notwithstanding that WD continues to sell them), any recommendations for an alternative personal device?

Thank you,
-Craig

They are dropping support to My Cloud OS 3 and lower. My Cloud Home Devices are not affected because they run a totally different OS. So your My Cloud Home 4TB will receive new updates

If you own a My Cloud Home you don’t have to worry about updating it and it does not use OS5. See the User Manual. My Cloud Home Firmware Update (wd.com)
