I’m trying to connect my My Cloud Home on a backup PC, whilst the original is being repaired.
I can see the device under Network settings, but when I try to connect to the folder I want access to, it is coming up with enter Network Credentials, and username admin.
Trying all of my usual passwords (and password) doesn’t seem to let me enter the folder - and I can’t see any place to change the ‘admin’ password.
I can’t remember the Network Credentials. I can see MYCLOUD-XXXXX in File Explorer. I can open it and see 3 of around 10 folders that I have created, but the folder I need access to comes up with Enter Network Credentials, admin, asks for a password, but has Access is Denied in red below the Remember my Credentials box, as soon as this window opens.
I can access everything by logging on to My Cloud online, but really would like to map this folder.
Network credentials are used to access restricted networks. They consist of a username and password, and they provide access to secured networks, servers, and other network resources. Network credentials are commonly used to authenticate users on corporate networks, as well as on home networks.
As soon as I try and access this folder, I get the attached screen. Access is denied comes up even before entering a password… which still comes up with Access denied.
What version of Windows you are using. Recent versions have disabled insecure connections.
If you had enabled local access on the My Cloud Home (MCH) and remember what it was.
If you have forgot you password(s). There are at least 3 passwords, Windows logon, MCH webapp and MCH local access. They are usually made different in order to distinguish one user from another.
If you know how to answer those 3 question, you should be able to log on to the MCH. If you fixed #2 and 3 and still can’t log in, read how to enable insecure guest logons.
I’ve logged onto the dashboard, but can’t find any settings for any folders or any place to change folder settings. The folder(s) that I need to access have a picture of a head and shoulders in the bottom left hand side of the icon… that’s all I know.
I’ve had my original laptop returned to me now, and can succesfully log in again. Using exactly the same details as I was trying on the backup laptop. So obviously a system setting… or something that was not allowing access.
