My cloud gen 2 red light blinking

Hello, i recently decided to power up my old my cloud i suppose it’s gen 2 the P/N ends with a -10 and i’ve read on this forum that it means it’s a gen 2.
So here is the deal. A year ago i was dumb enough to think i can expand my pc storage using the drive from the nas. I didnt work so i left it as it was. Now i am trying to actually use the nas and i plugged the drive into the board from the nas, powered it on and it just keeps on blinking red. The internet cable is working and all. As i said i was dumb enough to plug the drive into my pc and i suppose i formatted it aswell facepalm. I know there are plenty of threads like this one (been searching for over 2 hours) but all the links are dead including the ones from mr fox exe (apparently a good guy here). I really want to get this thing to work but i dont even know where to start. My guess is i need to install firmware on that drive and make partitions but i cant even download the firmware because the wd site doesnt work. Anyone? :sob:

There is an archive of files used to unbrick the second Gen single bay My Cloud here:

Unbrick directions: https://wd.hides.su/fox_exe/WDMyCloud-Gen2/_Unbricking_en.txt

uRamdisk-wdrecovery: https://wd.hides.su/fox_exe/WDMyCloud-Gen2/Developing/uRamdisk-wdrecovery

The latest v2.x firmware can be downloaded from the WD Support site.

Alright, i followed the instruction from this link https://wd.hides.su/fox_exe/WDMyCloud-Gen2/_Unbricking_en.txt
If you’re like me and don’t have access to the router to find nas ip, download this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.overlook.android.fing&hl=en
It will scan your network for devices and give you the nas ip.
Next follow the guide to the end where you install the firmware. Make sure to install the lowest first (you can update later)
After it finishes, log into the dashboard (if it asks for credentials do the 4s reset)
Now, depending on the situation you may be presented with 0MB of storage, in that case you will have to do the hard reset (hold reset button 40 seconds) It will take a while because it will format the whole drive but you will notice it finished when the blue light stops blinking.
After that you’re finished!

Hope this will help anyone that has the same issue i had

The WD My Cloud Version: Firmware Release 2.42.115 (1/18/2022) can be downloaded from the WD Support website:
https://downloads.wdc.com/nas/My_Cloud_GLCR_2.42.115.bin
The next oldest firmware Release 2.41.121 (11/17/2021):
https://downloads.wdc.com/nas/My_Cloud_GLCR_2.41.121.bin
Generally WD prevents users from downloading earlier versions of the single bay My Cloud firmware beyond the latest two versions. If one needs or wants older firmware versions that cannot be downloaded from WD then see the following link and drill down for the firmware for your My Cloud device:
https://wd.hides.su/wd/
For example for the second gen v2.x firmware My Cloud: https://wd.hides.su/wd/Cloud_gen2/frimware/

In order to install the OS5 v5.x firmware to one’s second gen single bay My Cloud, one generally needs to install the 2.41.121 or 2.42.115 firmware first then update to the OS5 firmware either through the My Cloud Dashboard or downloading and manually installing the v5.x firmware from the WD Support link above.
