My Cloud EX2: USB Backup Locks Up Dashboard

I’ve just tried backing up data from my My Cloud Ex2 onto a USB drive for the first time. Right after I started the backup, the Dashboard Web front end has stopped responding. It’s about 300GB of data, so I know the backup’s going to take a while. Still. The strange thing is the network volume I’m backing up is still fully accessible to my Mac across the network.

Is anybody else having this problem?

Juding by the flashing lights on my USB drive, the backup’s continuing. Anybody know if there’s another way to check the progress of the backup set?

This seems to be that the dashboard crashed intead of the drive, is the USB drive still having activity?

Well I wasn’t seeing any activity after nearly 24 hours, so I gave up and powered down the WD My Cloud EX2, then restarted everything. It looks like the backup copied only about 20GB out of 270GB. I’ve now plugged the USB drive directly into my Mac min, which reads it just fine, and am simply doing a mass copy. Judging by what else I’m now reading on this message board, it sounds to me like the USB ports on the EX2 aren’t working right in general. Does anybody know if WD is working on a firmware fix?
