Hi, I have just set up a My Cloud EX2 Ultra, I think the set up went well, I can access via the App on my Phone either on or off my Network, I can access via files.mycloud.com on and off my network. the issue is trying connect on my Mac, the drive appears under locations, click in it gives you 3 standard folders, click on Public, I get the following message the operation can’t be completed because the original item for public can’t be found.
any ideas on how to resolve
You might need to turn on NFS access for the public share, this is done from the NAS Dashboard.
Enable that, configure the IP as it requests (best to use a static IP for the NAS so this doesnt change). Then you should be able to mount the folder on the MAC.
Caveat: I am not a MAC / Linux user but had to do this to allow my Raspberry Pi to see and write to a folder on the NAS.
thanks for the guidance I have enabled NFS and created Reserved IP Address, it is working currently but keep this updated as when I turn on the computer it always works to start with and then stops after a while so fingers crossed
Sorry it’s not resolved the issue so after a while its like the computer loses it’s connection when I click on the drive in finder it shows me the Public Etc, when I click on the public icon it still says can’t be found, I have logged in via the Web file app and I can still get access? but I can resolve the issue by restarting the MacBook,
Could probably do with someone who is more familiar with MAC OS, I have never used it and only touching the edges of Linux based stuff on my Raspberry Pi, so not sure what I can add.
I am a Mac OS user. The error you describe occurred at times when my My Cloud EX2 Ultra went to sleep, but it disappeared as soon as I upgraded my iMac to Mac OS Catalina. If you can upgrade your system to Catalina, that would help.
Also, make sure that a fixed IP address is assigned to the device.
Please let me know if you can sort the problem out.
These are my current settings. Please use them as a reference. And if you have any questions, please ask away.
Unfortunately, I am not familiar with Orbi. But I did assign a static address to the NAS outside of the standard range 192.168.1.1 ~ 192.168.1.199. Mine is 192.168.1.201, for instance.
I changed the Static Settings for the IPV4 and now I can’t access the NAS, I’m Going to try a soft reset then start again I think it asked for a “vlan” and I may have not entered the correct information.
I believe it does ask for a VLAN when you setup a static IP, just leave it blank if you are just assigning an IP outside of normal DHCP range (as A.Cintoli has said above). Only remember that as I only set mine to static recently
I tried to use the IP address prior to resetting but it did not work have carried out the reset and made the changes with VLan off, and it’s still losing connection after a while, I going to try and find out if the reserved address on my router is a static Address?? to see if that helps
