I currently am capable of streaming .mp4 movies from the ‘My Cloud’ app installed on my Ipad 2. The streaming seems to work well when using the app. While the movie is streaming the App has the option to use Apple Airplay. I have apple TV so it would be nice to stream movies on my iPad while watching them on my Apple TV. The Apple TV is an option on Air Play but it doesn’t appear to be working.
My Cloud 6TB was configured for a PC
All the movies are in .mp4 format
The movies can be viewed on my ipad when using the app
The Airplay option doesn’t push the movie to apple TV. I have a different app that pushes this to Apple TV, but for some reason this specific app isn’t working
Because MP4 is a container format its possible the encoding format or options selected during the enccoding process has made the MP4 file is incompatible with the Apple TV supported version of MP4. To test, try reencoding the file with a program like (free) Handbrake and see if that solves the problem.
The file that the error message shows was encoded by Handbrake for iPhone/Ipad. What format would you using handbrake? The file with the error message was encoded by Handbrake.
This program which runs on your Mac and an app that runs on your iPhone or iPad will stream “ANY” movie in any format to your iPhone/iPad and Apple TV.
Ok before you say, that is not what I’m looking for. There are two parts to this program; one is the streaming, the other is the conversion. You can queue up a bunch of movies to be converted to .MP4 permanently, thus you can then replace your broken .mp4 with a proper Apple Approved .Mp4.
I use this program frequently as it allows me to view my movies immediately no matter the format and then convert them permanently for storage. It also uses the codexes from VLC so it really supports almost all formats and futureproofed.
The best thing is that the price of $2.99. I think I paid $5 for the first version then subsequently another $5 for the upgraded version.
