My Book Studio not recognized

Hello all.  I know I’m not the first person to encounter this issue, so I hope I receive some help.  :)  I just purchased a WD My Book Studio, and it turns on, but the light does not glow and my Mac (2011 iMac running ML) does not recognize the drive at all.  I’ve looked at a lot of troubleshooting pages, but I’m aquired no success.  Does anyone have and advice, tips, or tricks?

Hello, just to be sure connect the my book directly to wall socket, you can also try connecting the my book to another Mac.
