My Book Live Setup

While trying to set up my new MBL with a Apple Mac Book Air I can see the MBL on the setup page and showing serial number and IP address.

[DELETED]

however when I run the setup it shows an error.

typing ip adress on the browser does not bring any results and also cannot access the drive through the dashboard.
I connected the MBL to a windows computer directly and dashboard is accessible however there is no internet connection available.
Any help will be much appreciated.

Probably you have a network configuration problem. What is your internet router ip adress? If it is 192.168.1.1 all computers including my book live must have ip address 192.168.1.x ,x=2-254

Yes the router’s IP address is 192.168.1.1 and the my book live iv address 192.168.1.40. It shows up on the dchp clients of the router, however when i try to ping it says host is down.

Reset the MBL using the pinhole on the rear. Read the user manual for how many seconds to hold the reset button. Too many or not enough and it won’t reset.

Then when it is reset, look in your router table to see what the IP address of the MBL is. Then using your computer’s browser, type the IP address into the browser address bar. That should take you to the MBL Dashboard webpage. From there you can set up the MBL. DO NOT change the network setting from DHCP to Static in the Dashboard. If you want to assign your MBL a static IP, do it at the router table instead. Once you are finished with setup in Dashboard, then use Finder in the Mac to map the drive.

So I tired setting up the MBL with my office router and works perfectly over there as well as an old router at home. Investigating further when I plug in the MBL to the router the LAN port light does not light up, however if I connect the same LAN cable to a laptop the LAN port on the router lights up. The MBL shows up on the DCHP client on the router but when I ping the IP address it shows " invalid host" Arp - a command shows ip address but no MAC address.
Does anyone know whats going on here?

Try to change the cable and the port of the router. The light must light up.

I have tried with 2 cables, will try again with a spare one. The same cable works with an old router connected to MBL as well as present router connected to laptop.
Strange

Maybe it is a patch cable and the old router recognizes it but the new one not.

connect mbl and computer to the old router. look in your router table to see what the IP address of the MBL is. Then using your computer’s browser, type the IP address into the browser address bar. That should take you to the MBL Dashboard webpage. From there you can set up the MBL. DO NOT change the network setting from DHCP to Static in the Dashboard. Make sure it is set to dchp
