When accessing the my cloud via iTunes; the album artwork of my songs is not displayed (for example under artist or album view). I only get the small album art shown at the top when playing the song ?
*I uninstalled bonjour printing services, not sure if thats the problem but I doubt it.
When copying music from my pc to the my cloud; as well as the tracks I also get AlbumArtSmall.jpg, folder.jpg & thumbs.db copied into the folder even though these files don’t exist on my pc. Why is this happening and what are these files for as the album art is loaded into the metadata of the tracks…?
I can’t help with #1 but see the info below for #2. If you ripped your music from CD’s and you are on the internet the info is on your computer. The information below comes from using Help in Windows Media Player.
To rip music from a CD, do the following:
For best results, make sure that you are connected to the Internet before you begin.
When your computer is connected to the Internet, the Player attempts to retrieve media information, ( see info at bottom) about the tracks being ripped from an online database. The Player then adds the information to the files during ripping.
Note that you can rip a CD when your computer isn’t connected to the Internet. However, the Player won’t be able to identify the name of the CD, the artist who created it, or the names of the songs until you go online.
Hi, thanks for the reponse but I’m not too sure how this info relates to my query about why these items appear when copying mp3’s from my pc to HDD. …Thx
Some things are hidden from your view. Have you ever looked at your hidden folders etc. If you are backing it up don’t you want it back, should you need it?
Hi, I have show hidden items enabled and it doesnt show these files on my pc. My music looks the same as yours except I don’t have those other 2 files. But when copying it to my hdd, I get the items mentioned in my first post also appearing on the hdd.
I haven’t ever resized the artwork, I normally just copy and paste the artwork into iTunes from the net.
This is a reply to your first question. I am on my Desktop PC, Windows 7. By opening my Network then going to my share>music and going to the iTunes folder and opening the music, see image below
Hi, thanks for the response I think we are talking about different things though. The my cloud has a built in iTunes server so any music that you have stored on the device will show up as “WDMYCLOUD” under iTunes shared libraries. This is where the artwork does not show up.
If you have this option enabled could you see if it’s working for you by clicking on the shared music library “WDMYCLOUD” in iTunes and going to albums ?
Also I don’t have my entire iTunes library backed up to the MYCLOUD like you do (I assume you use it as your main iTunes library), just my songs (not libray file etc.)…
My iTunes server on the WDMyCloud doesn’t show the albums artwork either in iTunes. Same thing on the iTunes server of my Synology NAS. Unlike the WD version through, the Synology version allows to play videos (without thumbnails).
