Mobile access over wifi

On my phone I have no issue accessing my cloud from wifi or data, but on another phone that is being used to access the cloud it will only allow access when on mobile network. When on wifi it gives an error saying that the device is offline. This does not make sense and obviously presents a problem with transferring info between the drive and phone as it will consume a large amount of data. Any help on this would be appreciated.

What phone and phone OS is giving the error? What app are you using on the mobile device to access the My Cloud? If you use a file manager, like ES File Explorer if using Android, that supports accessing a NAS can you access the My Cloud?

Galaxy Note 5, 6.0.1 Android, using My Cloud app from Play Store. ES file manager doesn’t seem to support My Cloud or if it does I have no idea how to access it using that.

File managers like ES File Explorer will absolutely access the My Cloud. You have to access the Network page within ES File Explorer, then either run a scan to find local network devices or create a new LAN Server entry with the IP Address of the My Cloud and User/Password if one has Private Shares. The following link is a bit dated with old screen shots, but gives the general steps: http://www.cnet.com/how-to/share-files-between-android-and-windows-with-es-file-explorer/

The other thing to check is if one can access the WD My Cloud Dashboard while connected via WiFi on the local network with their mobile device.

Downloaded ES file manager but in search it does not find the My Cloud. Also when connected to the wifi the dashboard will not load either. Does load when I turn wifi off and use cell network.

Then there is an issue with wifi access on your phone.

Can you access the internet via wifi on your phone?

Can you find out the IP address of your MyCloud; check your router UI, or access the Dashboard via mobile data, and go to the network settings page. The try wifi access to the MyCloud Dashboard using the IP address

<IP address>/UI
