I hope that someone will be able to help or give advice with this problem?
“Out of the blue” my pc kept reporting that my user name or password to access my MCH networked drive was incorrect…I thought maybe some malware had corrupted the credentials or something, so I deleted the local drive and attemped to install a new local access one.
I turned off and on local access in the dashboard and set a new user name and password, on my pc I deleted the credentials that was stored and set up the new credentials…but when I try to set up a local drive, I get “user name or password is incorrect”…the problem is, I am very sure that I typed them in correctly even though there is not option to actually see the password you typed.
I can see the MYCLOUD-xxx drive under “network” and timemachine folder is accessable… but the main folder with my files is under the username/password access to I cant pass for some reason
I normally have to manually delete entries in the Windows Credential Manager before new credentials for a network drive “take”. (Most annoying: Windows only allows ONE set of credentials for any network device. . .)
Thanks for your reply…but, yeah tried different things with “credentials” that were stored in credential manager.
I deleted them (like you did) before setting up new network drive…I tried just editing them before and after setting up network drive…I tried adding these credentials via CMD prompt, before and after DISM and SFC scans…same result, no access!
I have my 1st generation WDMYCLOUD set up on my home network, and it is connected to my router. Using Windows File Explorer, the image below will show how I can open up and see all three of my shares or just open up one, horace.
You can also check whether Windows is silently sending the wrong account format, which is common with My Cloud shares after credentials change. In File Explorer try connecting with \MYCLOUD-xxx\sharename and enter the username as MYCLOUD-xxx\username rather than just the username, then remove any existing mappings with net use * /delete before trying again. If the share still rejects valid credentials, reboot the PC and check that Windows Credential Manager no longer has an old entry for that My Cloud hostname.
Thanks for replying…
I found the problem…it was that MYCLOUD HOME was no longer able to go through the network switch that I got, it worked fine for 8 years before and it suddenly just stopped…this is what really made it so hard to find the problem.
