Any data connected to the internet is vulnerable and while this malware attack was NOT against the My Cloud Home, something like this could happen. This is especially true for something deprecated and no longer supported as the My Book Live. Someone who is prepared ahead of time has already won half the battle. Someone with a MBL who updated their firmware in this case was unaffected and did not lose data.
