Lost mybooklive from netwok!

I was having difficulty transferring large media files across to the 3TB NAS in my network. So I followed the instructions in one of the community threads to open a cmd prompt and type ‘net use’ and delete any network connection with “Web Client Network”.

I now don’t have any netwok connection to MyBookLive, BUT I can see the files via WD2go or WD MyCloud.

When I click on the shortcut on the desktop to MyBookLive Public Share is says:

"\192.168.0.4\Public

The operation being requested was not performed because the user has not been authenticated."

Please help!

Don’t use the shortcut, as it’s still trying to use Web Client.

OK - shortcut deleted!

But I still don’t have a mapped network drive and the NAS doesn’t appear in my network. I have tried connecting via CMD prompt: “net use n: \192.168.0.4\Public” and it can’t find it.

I’ve also tried mapping a new drive from Explorer, but no luck there either…

Any thoughts?

You’re gonna need to provide more info than “it can’t find it.”

What error messages?  What happens?

Apologies - away from my home PC and wasn’t able to remote connect due to powercut!

So, from the CMD prompt, I type: “net use n: \192.168.0.4\Public” and the response is: “System error 67 has occured. The Network name cannot be found”

From the map netwrk drive dialogue, I type: “\192.168.0.4\Public” and it attempts to conect then comes up with “Windows cannot access \192.168.0.4\Public. Check the spelling of the name, otherwise there may be a problem with your network”

I tried diagnosing but troubleshooting can’t find the problem…

A bit more information (if it helps). By typing in “net use” I get: “New connections will not be remembered. There are no entries in the list.”

After powercut and restart, the IP address is now 192.168.0.3

I downloaded and installed My Net View - the network scan resulted in all OK (confirming antivirus, main PC and MyBookLive with the IP above)…

In windows explorer, under Network, what do you see?  Is the MBL visible?  Can you select it?  Does it open?

By the way, i would set up a static IP for your MBL if i were you.

Sounds like your MBL is using DHCP.    If that’s the case, then you shouldn’t be trying to map by IP address because it can change without you knowing.
