Lost access to My Cloud after switching to Static

Hi there, I recently received a new modem and router from my ISP and since then I have had terrible problems with my wifi ie frequent dropping out and regularly unable to load web pages. I think I may have narrowed the problem down to my WD My Cloud. I have read some other pages on this community which suggest similar problems. One suggested solution was to change Cloud Access from Auto to WinXP. I tried this but problems continued.

Another suggested solution was to switch from DHCP to Static. At first I tried to assign an IP for my My Cloud on my router but was unable to do this. So instead I changed the DHCP range on my router and then tried to assign a static IP on the My Cloud outside of that range. Now that I have done that though I can no longer access My Cloud either remotely or on the network (although a couple of times I seemed to be able to get through on Windows Explorer). I’ve tried deleting the My Cloud app from my iPhone and redownloading and logging in with no luck. When I login on the app it sayd “No one has shared with you yet”. I then tried to add WD drive manually but cannot get an activation code as I get the following error “Failed to create device user 400073”.

Any ideas?

@hurleysmiths Some things you did not provide, Who is your Internet Service Provider and what type of modem/router do you have? Does your computer that you are using have Windows XP?

Thanks cat0w. My ISP is Optus and the router is a Sagemcom 3864V3 AC. I’ll check re Windows XP…

And I’m using Windows 7 Home Premium

And the separate modem is Netgear CM500V-1 Staus
