Local Network Connection

Hi guys… I’m a newcomer…

I just bought WD My Cloud and want to use it locally without internet (as simple as external hard drive).
I have a router and I tried to set up but it does not work.

Can anyone guide me how to set up?
I’m very poor in network…

I am very appreciate your help.
Thanks!

Have you read the My Cloud User Manual?

Generally you connect the My Cloud to the router, connect your computer to that router (or to the same local network the router is connected too. Then open up a web browser and access the Dashboard to configure the My Cloud. See the following link for more information on how to access the Dashboard:

You need to ensure both the My Cloud and the computer are using the same Workgroup name, generally/typically: workgroup.

One the My Cloud is properly configured one can use Windows File Explorer or Mac Finder to access the Shares on the My Cloud.

I got a MyCloud before I got internet access. The MyCloud worked quite happily with a wireless router.

Setup is done via the Dashboard: use the ‘Mobile Devices’ setup option shown on the ‘Quick Start Guide’ that comes with the device. And download the User Manual that Bennor just linked for you.

Complete setup takes about ten minutes. Hit ‘cancel’ when it asks you to set up a WD login; you will not be able to connect if you have no internet.

Even if you have it connected to a router which is connected to the internet, you can keep ‘Cloud Access’ disabled, and prevent internet access to the device.
