Currently using version 2.4.16, and cannot determine if that is the latest available version after looking at the installed s/w and on the WD website. Any insight is most appreciated. Thanks.

Smartware Pro is a End of life product, If you are using the trial version It only has a 30 days trial period usage. After that you would need to install the Smartware normal version and for that latest version is 2.4.20 which can be downloaded from the below link:
