Latest Firmware WD Elements Play 1tb

Just recently purchased  a WD Elements play 1tb media player.

Liked it so I got another for the conservatory. The latest firmware on download site is 1.01.10

However my original player firmware version is 1.01.12

Now correct me if im wrong but is this not a newer version and if so why is this version not on website.

The second player has version 1.00.85 so this needs updating.

By the way I had to purchase my second player from a different on line store as pc world / currys had run out & said they would not be re stocking as they believe this player is going to be obsolete (hence the cheap price)

Funny how WD have released updates for their newer models in Feb 2012 yet the elements play last update was 2010.

E mailed WD about this but no reply as yet. Has anyone else got a newer version than 1.01.10 and if so what ?

Any feedback would be appreciated guys

IMHO since the product is a newest version, almost the same as the original with a few improvements, I think that there will not be more updates for the old model.  Unfortunately in the technology field products become legacy too quick. :cry:

From my understanding on WD’s comments elswhere in this forum, the 1.01.12 firmware is specific to a hardware difference for later players.    There’s no addition of features or bug fixes.
