Just Opened a 12TB

I Just opened a WD ELEMENTS DESKTOP 12TB drive I purchased a while ago.
On first plug-in, it isn’t in explorer and a “my computer/manage” shows “not initialized”, when I try to initialize, it gives “The request failed due to a fatal device hardware error”.
The WD support site says the warranty expiration date was 18-Dec-2023.
Device purchased from Amazon on Nov 25, 2021.
Is there anyway I can get an exception?!?! I’ve never used the drive, and it was stored in an apartment closet.

Highly unlikely.

The Warranty Period is from the Date of Purchase … not from the Date of when you removed it from the Box to use it.
